At FCDO Services, we protect the UK’s interests at home and overseas. We design and construct secure government buildings and courier diplomatic packages worldwide, safeguard government tech, and a whole lot more. Our work is as varied and vital as it gets, but we never lose sight of our people. Their skills, aspirations, and growth mean as much as the global mission we’re on. In our world, it all matters.
The success of a government project can depend on secure, timely shipments, and our Logistics team always delivers the goods. From dedicated drivers to King's Messengers, they've delivered to over 250 destinations worldwide, moving over a million kilograms of freight annually across land, air, and sea. Now, you've got the opportunity to join them.
Delivering globally.
Dispatching each shipment with care.
Seeing your impact go further.
It all matters.
Keep our global organisation supplied with the goods it needs.
When you join us as a Warehouse Operative, you’ll have a wide range of important tasks as you work to keep our people supplied with the products they need. Responsible for receiving goods when they arrive on site and recording their receipt on Hera, our warehouse management system, you’ll maintain the very highest levels of safety and security as you carry out necessary threat detection procedures. You’ll also be required to pack items for dispatch, ensure they’re delivered to the agreed standards, and respond to any customer queries, including offering advice on IATA regulations for dangerous air cargo.
An important part of your role will involve supporting, investigating, and helping to resolve problems associated with logistics and diplomatic bag processes. You’ll have a number of other responsibilities, including the creation and completion of paper and electronic records for the tracking of all goods on and off site. We’ll also expect you to work on the procurement of goods for inventory supply, including purchase orders and requisitioning. The management of inventory stock for internal and external customers will be another of your tasks, as will making arrangements for the complete end-to-end disposal of goods.
Use all your skills as you help to keep our nation safe and secure
To be a success in this role, you’ll have the skills to screen and pack goods safely and securely, and be capable of operating the specialist tools and vehicles used in our warehouses. In addition, you should have experience of high-risk manual handling. The ability to drive a forklift truck would be desirable, as would an understanding of the Health and Safety requirements of working in a busy operational facility.
You’ll be joining a hard-working, friendly, and collaborative team, so you should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Basic English and Maths qualifications (equivalent to GCSE Grade C or 4) are important, as is some practical knowledge and understanding of Microsoft’s suite of software, with a particular focus on Word and Excel.
Discover the support you need to grow your career further
But we’re always looking to improve – just like you. That’s why when you join us, expect to receive a competitive salary, generous holiday entitlement, and a Civil Service Pension. Along with this, you’ll also have access to training and other development opportunities to help grow your career with us. Our offices have an on-site gym, nursery, café, and restaurant, and we offer interest-free loans on season tickets and bikes to help you get there. It's a great set of benefits made to support all you do, and all you need.
