About us
Dr Challoner’s has 1370 students, of which 453 are in the Sixth Form. In November 2019, the school was judged to be Outstanding in a full section 5 inspection under the new Education Inspection Framework. It is regarded as one of the leading grammar schools in the country. As lead in the Teaching School Hub - Buckinghamshire, we provide an exciting range of professional development opportunities. Our culture, and everything we do, is underpinned by our values of Aspiration, Kindness, and Resilience. These values guide our actions and help us bring our motto, Excellence with Integrity, to life. We would like to appoint someone who embodies those values in the way they work with young people to lead our learning provision.
The successful candidate will lead the development and evaluation of our learning and teaching, ensuring that we draw on the best available evidence and practice.
They will also oversee elements of our professional development programme, focusing on learning and teaching, and our ITT and ECF provision. Line management of one of our subject teams will ensure close links with what goes on in our classrooms.
Further responsibilities will be allocated on appointment, based on the successful candidate’s interests and experiences.
While subject specialism is not especially important in this appointment, the ability to teach one of the subjects we offer at A level is an advantage.
About you
To fill this rewarding and demanding role, we are seeking someone who has genuine creativity but who also possesses the highest level of organisational capacity; an excellent communicator who can shape ideas and see them through so that they make a real difference to what happens on the ground.
Further detail is contained within the Person Specification in the job pack. The type of school you have worked in before is very unlikely to be a factor, although members of our SLT have to be able to hold their own with our highly intelligent students, parents, and colleagues.
Other information
Visits to the school are warmly welcome.
