Cambian Wing College
Wing College is a specialist further education college offering both day and 38-52-week residential placements. We provide holistic education for students aged 16-25 years who have a diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Disorder and associated mental health conditions. At Wing College we use specialist education approaches, therapeutic support and environments and staffing expertise to prepare students to meet the demands of adult life in a positive way.
The young people we educate and care for come to us with a huge variety of needs and difficulties. Our challenge is to help them build the hope, confidence, knowledge and skills to unlock their potential. From innovative educational experiences to national curriculum programmes, supported by passionate teams of specialists and key workers, we actively enable each young person to achieve their personal best, all in an environment that best suits them.
Head of Care
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Head of Care/Registered Manager to lead our residential care services. This is a senior management position where you will set an example and provide strategic leadership to other managers, guiding organisational and strategic decisions across the residential homes associated with the college.
As Head of Care/Registered Manager you will hold legal responsibility for one of the four residential settings within Cambian Wing College. The Head of Care will report to the Principal on a daily basis, with the Registered Managers responsible for overseeing the management and running of these establishments which may function for 38 or 52 weeks a year. It is important that best practice is identified and shared between all staff and all sites, and there is a remit for the postholder to keep abreast and up to date with any policy or legislative changes.
This post involves senior responsibility for the overall care provision across Cambian Wing College and being an integral part of the Senior Leadership and Management Teams. As part of this role, the Head of Care will support the Registered Managers team in the strategic leadership of the Care team at CWC. These leadership responsibilities include elements such as occupancy, budgets, staffing, recruitment, training, referrals and estates.
The Head of Care ensures that high standards are maintained within staffing, delegated budgets, resources, the fabric of the buildings, the health and welfare of students and to ensure conformity with appropriate legislation as laid out in the Health & Social Care Act (2008) Regulations 2014, with particular reference to CQC Fundamental Standards.
The role also involves monitoring and evaluating the implementation of individual care and activity plans for residential students, and working in partnership with colleagues in the group to ensure the same high standards of care are in place for all young people at all times.
The Head of Care will be expected to contribute to developing the establishment by participation as required in the planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and review of its policies and working procedures, including participating in and chairing meetings as required. The management of the KPI and DYLOS process is a key part of the role as is the sharing of best practice within the College as well as from within the wider Cambian Group.
It is expected that the process of managing and running the houses will be open and transparent, respecting the privacy and dignity of students; supporting them in their day to day decisions with respect to the care they are to receive.
