Summary
Farrel Ltd is offering an exciting opportunity to join their team as a Machining Apprentice. The successful applicant will become a competent member of the Machining Team. A machinist apprentice will work alongside a tradesperson who operates machine tools and can set up tools such as milling machines, grinders, lathes, and drilling machines.
Work
As an apprentice, you'll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You'll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you'll do at work
1. Conduct safety checks and performance monitoring for machining, associated equipment and surrounding work area.
2. Receive, read and interpret engineering data and documentation, engineering drawings and technical data.
3. Contribute to or plan the day's machining schedule.
4. Check and inspect materials to be machined to ensure that they conform to quality standards.
5. Identify and report any issues or faults such as incorrect grades, dimensions and thicknesses.
6. Plan and prepare sequence for the machining activities.
7. Ensure that the correct tooling, work holding, and materials are used.
8. Set up, operate, adjust or edit conventional or CNC machining equipment settings and programmes for the machine tool being used.
9. Machine high-quality complex components using a broad range of processes.
10. Inspect components produced.
11. Adjust the machining equipment or programme and tooling to ensure components meet quality requirements.
12. Identify, communicate and report issues affecting machining component quality, quantity and deadlines.
13. Complete machining documentation at all stages of the work activity.
