NEP UK are currently recruiting for three Pre Technicians on a 12-month fixed-term contract.
The role of Prep Technician at NEP UK is an exciting opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge in broadcast technology, by being involved directly in the preparation of technical equipment and systems for high profile outside broadcasts. During your time across all technical areas, you will gain hands-on experience of the technology, processes and workflows used in outside broadcasts and major events. To ensure you gain a well-rounded and complete understanding of what goes into the services that NEP provide, you will spend time within all operational and technical support departments at NEP UK's HQ – Base Operations, Technical Stores, Fibre Maintenance, RF Technology and Technical Maintenance.
This role suits ambitious applicants with a passion for broadcast and media technology, who wish to build a career as a broadcast technician. Responsibilities
1. Working with base operations team and prior to facilities being deployed to outside broadcasts, perform tier 1 preparation, installation, and testing of broadcast equipment, ensuring kits are complete, in full working order, packaged for transport and where applicable integrated correctly within OB Trucks and Fly-packs.
2. Scan and register broadcast equipment leaving and returning to base. Check, test, and clean equipment and kits. Report and initiate remedial actions to correct technical faults and cosmetic imperfections, prior to equipment being returned to Technical Stores Operatives.
3. Ensure equipment is returned from site complete and undamaged before ‘off-hiring’.
4. Accurately report faulty equipment on site through OB reports and fault tickets. Action repairs if possible or seek support of Engineering or Technical Maintenance.
5. Assist Camera Guarantees and Engineers with the preparation and configuration of outside broadcast facilities, equipment and systems.
6. Normalise outside broadcast trucks and facilities on their return to base. Removal of excess equipment & cabling, restoration areas to tidy and orderly condition, check and restock spares and consumables.
7. Work with stores supervisors & warehouse team to organise workspaces including prep areas, demo spaces, operational areas, and equipment storage. Maintain stock levels of spares and consumables.
8. In collaboration with Equipment Resourcing, Engineering and Stores Supervisors, prepare equipment loads for deployment, based on load lists and the In-House stock system.
