The main purpose of this role is to provide comprehensive HR support and payroll management to ensure smooth and efficient operations within the organisation. The HR and Payroll Advisor acts as a key liaison between employees and management, providing expert guidance on HR policies, payroll processes, and employee relations to support the organisation’s strategic goals.
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
~ A CIPD Level 3 or Level 5 is highly desirable.
~ Certified Payroll Professional (CIPP) qualification.
~2-3 years of experience in HR, payroll, or a related field is required.
~ Knowledge of HMRC regulations related to payroll.
~ Proficiency in Microsoft Office packages.
~ Experience using HR and payroll software systems.
~ Payroll Management and Processing:
Accurately prepare and process the monthly payroll for all employees, including salaries, overtime, bonuses, statutory deductions, and other adjustments.
Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements, such as PAYE, National Insurance, pensions, and other HMRC regulations.
Handle payroll queries from employees, providing clear and timely responses and resolving any discrepancies or issues.
Prepare and submit statutory payroll returns, such as P45s, P60s, and P11Ds, in accordance with deadlines.
HR Administration and Employee Records:
Maintain and update employee records and HR databases, ensuring all information is accurate, up-to-date, and compliant with GDPR and data protection laws.
Prepare and issue employment contracts, offer letters, and other HR documentation in line with company policies.
Manage the administration of employee benefits programs, including pension schemes, health insurance, and other benefits.
Monitor employee absence, including holiday, sickness, and other leave, and ensure accurate recording and reporting.
Employee Relations and Advisory Support:
Provide advice and support to managers and employees on HR-related issues, including performance management, disciplinary actions, grievances, and absence management.
Assist in conducting investigations, hearings, and disciplinary meetings, ensuring fair and consistent application of HR policies and procedures.
Support the resolution of employee relations issues, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
Recruitment and Onboarding:
Assist with the recruitment process, including drafting job descriptions, posting job adverts, screening CVs, and coordinating interviews.
Work closely with hiring managers to ensure a smooth recruitment and onboarding experience.
Policy Development and Compliance:
Assist in the development, review, and implementation of HR policies and procedures, ensuring they are up-to-date and compliant with UK employment laws and best practices.
Conduct regular audits of HR and payroll processes to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.
Training and Development:
Support the coordination and delivery of training programs and development initiatives to enhance employee skills and career growth.
Maintain training records and assist in evaluating the effectiveness of training programs.
HR Projects and Continuous Improvement:
Participate in various HR and payroll-related projects to support continuous improvement initiatives and streamline processes.
Contribute to the development and implementation of HR strategies and plans aligned with the organisation’s objectives.
Reporting and Data Analysis:
Prepare regular and ad-hoc HR and payroll reports for management, providing insights and data analysis to support decision-making.
Monitor HR metrics, such as turnover rates, absence levels, and employee satisfaction, and recommend actions to address trends and issues.
Foster effective communication and collaboration between HR, payroll, finance, and other departments to ensure smooth operational processes.
Act as a key point of contact for external partners and agencies, such as HMRC, pension providers, and recruitment agencies.
