Job summary Band 6 Occupational Therapist- Orthopaedics- 37.5 hours Do you have an interest in Orthopaedics and enjoy joint therapy working? If so, we are looking for a well rounded, HCPC registered Occupational Therapist to join our proactive and innovative Orthopaedic therapy team, working across both elective and trauma. Experience of working at Band 6 level would be beneficial but we will also consider supporting a developmental Band 5 role. Completion of Band 5 rotations across a variety of settings in the NHS is required as well as experience of multidisciplinary team working. Within the therapy team you will work closely alongside Physiotherapists, often completing joint therapy sessions. We therefore require somebody with excellent communication skills. We also run a weekend rota across orthopaedics in which you would be expected to participate. Organisation and time management skills are key to efficiently managing caseloads and experience of workload prioritisation is required. You would be expected to provide a patient centred approach to care, under pinned by sound clinical knowledge in evidenced based practice. You will be expected to mentor/supervise assistants and the opportunity to support students is encouraged. Main duties of the job To work autonomously to manage a defined complex patient caseload whilst working as part of a multidisciplinary team. To contribute to the delivery of the service in a variety of defined clinical settings, which may include in-patient wards, and the patient's home. To utilise advanced communication skills to ensure clinical advice and treatment programmes are delivered sensitively, taking into consideration the needs of carers. To undertake specialist clinical assessment, taking into account all relevant information and clinical reasoning to formulate evidence based individualised treatment plans in agreement with the patient. To implement specialist individual and/or group interventions for patients with diverse presentations and complex needs. To work as a member of the multidisciplinary team, contributing to decisions with regard to patient care programmes through attendance at ward rounds, case conferences and other multidisciplinary meetings.
