Construction Quality Manager - HMP Glasgow

Then perhaps you can leave your mark on HMP Glasgow, one of Scotland's largest construction projects, conveniently located circa 10 miles North East of Glasgow city. We have an excellent opportunity for a Quality Manager to join our HMP Glasgow team.
This could be your opportunity to get involved in delivering a modern new-build custodial facility, providing a secure, energy-efficient, and high-specification prison for 2000 inmates and staff.
Location: Glasgow, Scotland

What will you be responsible for?
As a Quality Control Manager, you'll work on a project site supporting operational delivery teams with QA compliance and managing quality throughout all project phases. Your role includes ensuring supply chain partners adhere to Kier quality standards, maximizing customer satisfaction, and maintaining project operating margins.
The role involves, but is not limited to:
1. Supporting operational teams to ensure a right-first-time approach in quality management and specification compliance.
2. Ensuring compliance and operational management of Quality Control Systems, including auditing, risk management, investigations, complaint handling, and report writing.
3. Providing quality-related training to equip project teams with skills to improve quality performance.
4. Ensuring effective implementation and monitoring of ISO-accredited integrated management systems, identifying opportunities for improvement, and implementing necessary changes.
5. Managing audit arrangements and attending both internal and external audits.
6. Identifying areas of concern, supporting contract teams to deliver improvements, analyzing root causes of defects, and implementing corrective actions.
7. Promoting a 'right first time' culture through process mapping, guidance documents, workshops, and corrective action plans.
8. Ensuring contract operations comply with business policies and standards by developing and managing the contract audit program.
9. Leading on information management and awareness of compliance needs to promote a culture of quality.
10. Driving performance excellence and continuous improvement.
11. Conducting daily site walkarounds, interacting with site teams and supply chain, and reporting findings via the Dalux platform.
12. Monitoring and reporting on current quality issues on-site, advising on solutions as needed.
13. Inspecting offsite facilities to ensure manufacturing meets specifications and quality requirements prior to delivery.
14. Supporting the team in identifying non-conformances and assisting in their resolution to meet specifications.
15. Ensuring ITPs are in place for all packages before work begins.
16. Performing spot checks and ensuring compliance.
17. Assisting with subcontractor audits and ensuring subcontractors have qualified site-based quality managers or supervisors.
18. Maintaining a 'golden thread' of quality records and consistent approach.
19. Establishing a project quality working group to align quality deliverables with project timelines and standards.
Who are we looking for? (Skills and experience)
* Strong technical construction knowledge gained within large build projects.
* High-level understanding of ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 management system standards.
* Experience with quality platforms and general IT literacy.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills across internal and external stakeholders.
* Ability to prioritize tasks effectively to ensure timely completion of work.
