They have planned an ambitious curriculum for all pupils, including for those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) As an SEN Teaching assistant at the school, you will be supporting a child in Year 1 with autism. As part of your role, you will be required to modify and adapt whole class activities as necessary under the overall direction and supervision of a teacher. The child finds it difficult to stay ‘on task’, and needs encouragement to persevere with their learning. It will be your responsibility to assess pupil progress alongside their IEP, and to support them to meet individual targets set my the school and parents. The successful applicant would need to have a secure understanding of the EYFS/KS1 curriculum and previous experience of working with children with SEN. The school are looking for a dedicated SEN teaching assistant who is willing to commit to a long-term position to ensure consistency for the child. This is a full time position to start immediately and to continue for as long as the child needs support, potentially until they have completed their Primary Education. Responsibilities of this SEND Teaching Assistant role, include: Supporting children with SEND including ASD, ADHD, Autism, SEMH, and challenging behaviour. Assisting class teachers with the delivery of the National Curriculum across Early Years (EYFS), Key Stage 1 (KS1), and Key Stage 2 (KS2). Helping students to engage with learning and develop social and emotional skills Encouraging positive behaviour and maintaining a supportive and inclusive classroom environment. Required Skills and Experience: Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant in a UK primary school setting. Experience supporting children with SEND, including ASD, ADHD, Autism, SEMH, and challenging behaviour. Strong understanding of the National Curriculum, particularly across EYFS, KS1, and KS2. Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning or similar.
