The Royal Society Grants team is responsible for administering the Society’s grants programmes including the major fellowships, international collaborations, capacity building initiatives, innovation and industry programmes. Working as part of a new team and reporting to Funding and Assurance (F&A) Senior Manager, the postholder will support the delivery of funding and assurance activities within the grants section, providing dedicated support to the Faraday Discovery Fellowship (FDF). We are seeking a candidate with strong attention to detail who is accustomed to working with timetabled deadlines. Grant commissioning and contracting Conduct thorough financial due diligence for successful Faraday Discovery Fellowship applications, identifying and addressing issues in collaboration with host organisations. Monitor payment schedule setup on grant management system flagging errors to grant managers. Resolve grants finances queries from both internal and external stakeholders Financial Reporting and Budget management Manage the annual financial reporting for the Faraday Discovery Fellowship, ensuring accuracy, timely submission, and compliance with regulations. Collaborate with key stakeholders to gather data, review financial statements, and provide insights to senior management. Support Funding and Assurance (F&A) Senior Manager managing the finance systems and finance dashboards. Support the distribution and monitoring of reporting timetable activities. Support the F&A Month-end reconciliations and quarterly financial reporting and forecasting. Support with data quality activities on the grant management system, resolving issues which could impact forecasting and payment runs activities. Post-award management Manage the closure of grants, including the reconciliation of stand-alone grants and main fellowships and scheduling final reports. Liaise with Research Offices to negotiate return and value of refunds. Create and scheduling new payment schedules Grant finance monitoring Deliver final finance reconciliation activities and refund receivables activities. Support F&A senior manager with payment schedules monitoring activities. Support the delivery of the monthly payment run and approval activities. Monitor F&A mailbox, directing email queries to relevant members of the F&A team. Project management and process improvement Take ownership of supporting the F&A senior manager in the delivery of the annual project plan by proactively managing deadlines, identifying potential risks, and ensuring timely completion of key milestones. Demonstrate initiative by anticipating challenges, proposing solutions, and ensuring effective communication across teams to drive progress. Additionally, contribute to process improvements and share insights for optimizing project efficiency.
