We are currently recruiting for an experienced Accounts Assistant looking for a stable and secure role within a friendly, professional, family run business. This is a full-time, office based role working at our Birkenhead office. Key Responsibilities for the Accounts Assistant: Working independently and reporting directly to the Finance Director, this varied role includes the following responsibilities: Purchase Ledger Accurately match, code and enter purchase ledger invoices into Sage Accounts payable (generate weekly and monthly payments, statement reconciliation to creditors) Maintain costing information in the Price Book and Purchase Invoice Register Stock Control Booking in stocks from supplier delivery notes and maintaining bill of material stocks Producing monthly stock valuation report and calculating stock movement journal Year end stock take including investigation of errors and reporting Cashbook Bank reconciliation Cashbook payments and allocation Petty cash and expenses Other duties Production of Quarterly VAT returns and EC Sales Lists Overseeing Credit Controller and provide holiday cover Liaising with Sales Department, setting up of new customer accounts and credit checks Posting journal entries, including accruals, prepayments, depreciation Maintain fixed asset register and post disposal journals Year-end reports, Companies House Annual Returns and support to Accountants during year-end financial audit Monthly figures to payroll Prepare Management Reports for Finance Director and Director of Operations Worldwide Negotiating utility contracts and other service contracts with suppliers Various administration duties as requested, including maintaining income and expenditure records for associated investment companies Experience and Skills Required for the Accounts Assistant: This role would suit someone with a varied background in accounts, able to work independently and liaise with other departments to facilitate the smooth running of the company. AAT Level 2 or equivalent qualification Proven experience in Accounts Assistant role Proficient use of accounts software, preferably Sage 200 Confident use of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (formulas, pivot tables, what if analysis) Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Strong literacy and numeracy skills Excellent time management and organisation skills Ability to work independently using own initiative Excellent interpersonal skills, working with other departments and external suppliers This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced candidate who is looking to work in a friendly, supportive and professional office environment with well-equipped modern facilities including free on-site secure parking. Training will be given. Hours of work are Monday to Friday, 9.00 am to 5.00 pm.
