We are building something special at Alpine.
We are looking to add to our well established team with individuals who are motivated to significantly contribute to our relentless pursuit of excellence – and ultimately a championship contending team.
We have a position within our team as a Tyre Modelling Engineer. This position will be based at our Technical Centre in Enstone, Oxfordshire.
The Role
As a Tyre Modelling Engineer you will develop and parameterise a variety of tyre models to ensure they accurately reflect real world performance of tyres. You will understand and characterise all aspects of tyre performance through research and development of state-of-the-art characterisation techniques.
Key accountabilities are:
* Development and maintenance of various tyre models used for vehicle performance simulations.
* Vehicle / simulation / Simulator data analysis to assess tyre model correlation and identify tyre model parameters.
* Support tyre-specific Simulator testing, including test specification, real time support during testing, post-test data analysis and reporting.
* Problem solving in areas of vehicle dynamics and performance as required by the team’s priorities.
This position is factory based.
The Person
The successful candidate will have a first-class degree in a relevant Science or Engineering discipline with a minimum of four years’ experience in an engineering role in high-level motorsport or tyre industry.
Tyre modelling experience is essential, at least fitting and correlation of force and moment properties.
A strong understanding of Vehicle Dynamics and Modelling, including a good understanding of suspension kinematics and compliance.
You will also have:
* Expertise in the use of MATLAB and/or Python.
* Experience in the development of tyre thermo-mechanical models, contact patch models (brush model, etc), physical models or FE models would be a distinct advantage.
* Experience in tyre indoor and outdoor testing (planning, execution, and data analysis) would be a distinct advantage.
* Trackside experience in a high-level motorsport series will be a distinct advantage.
* Experience in the use of motorsport data analysis software (Atlas, WinTAX etc) would be an advantage.
