Job Summary: We are looking for a compassionate, dedicated, and skilled Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) to join our team. As a Band 5 RMN, you will be providing high-quality nursing care to individuals experiencing mental health conditions, promoting recovery, and delivering person-centred support. Key Responsibilities: Patient Care : Deliver professional, compassionate, and effective care to individuals experiencing mental health conditions, ensuring a holistic approach to their physical, psychological, and emotional well-being. Develop and implement individualised care plans in collaboration with service users and their families, supporting recovery and helping patients to achieve their personal goals. Monitor and assess the mental and physical health of patients, identifying any changes in their condition and taking appropriate action. Provide therapeutic interventions, including administering medication, offering counselling, and supporting patients through their recovery process. Safeguard vulnerable individuals and support their rights to autonomy, dignity, and independence. Collaboration and Communication : Work closely with other healthcare professionals, including psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and support staff to ensure a coordinated and effective care plan for each service user. Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date patient records in accordance with regulatory standards and trust policies. Communicate effectively with patients, their families, and carers, providing information and support to enable informed decision-making about care and treatment. Risk Management : Carry out risk assessments and contribute to care planning for service users at risk of self-harm, harm to others, or other mental health crises. Support the management of challenging behaviour using appropriate de-escalation techniques and interventions, ensuring the safety of service users, staff, and visitors. Professional Development : Keep up to date with the latest research and best practices in mental health nursing. Engage in continuous professional development, attending training and supervision sessions as required. Support and mentor junior staff and students, offering guidance and sharing knowledge to foster learning and development. Regulatory and Legal Compliance : Adhere to the NMC Code of Conduct and all relevant legislation, including the Mental Health Act, safeguarding protocols, and health and safety regulations. Ensure compliance with trust policies and procedures, maintaining high standards of care and safety at all times. Supporting Recovery : Support the development of individual recovery plans, working collaboratively with service users to set achievable goals and promote long-term recovery. Encourage and facilitate patients’ involvement in meaningful activities, building confidence and skills to support independence. Requirements Qualifications : Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) with valid NMC registration. Evidence of a current and valid DBS check. Experience : Previous experience in a mental health nursing role (desirable but not essential for newly qualified nurses). Experience in acute or community mental health settings is an advantage. An understanding of mental health conditions and treatments, as well as relevant legislation (e.g., the Mental Health Act). Skills : Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to build rapport with patients and their families. Compassionate and patient-centred approach to care.
