Job Description
As a BIW Layout Engineer, you will join a growing division at Segula. This role offers significant potential for personal growth within a consultancy working with multiple clients and sectors. You will be responsible for introducing new facilities, materials, product lines, and managing current or new vehicle refresh programs.
Responsibilities
1. Assess the feasibility of new BIW facilities and processes, and develop and manage projects focusing on cost, quality, and timing.
2. Support the area by providing the necessary capability and capacity at facilities and supporting equipment, aligned with program milestones, launch plans, and production requirements.
3. Develop engineering solutions suited to the capabilities of the facilities and their process characteristics.
4. Create robust and lean layout solutions to support facility project delivery or operational efficiency improvements.
5. Coordinate with relevant stakeholders to achieve acceptance, buy-off, and successful handover of new or modified facilities.
6. Collaborate closely with Manufacturing and other Engineering disciplines to deliver programs and facility projects within cost and time targets.
7. Manage facility documentation in line with Manufacturing Engineering procedures, supporting audits.
8. Lead and participate in multifunctional New Equipment Procurement Teams throughout all project phases, ensuring adherence to procurement procedures.
9. Track project KPIs and prepare reports for departmental managers on a weekly basis.
Qualifications
1. Experience with AutoCAD or similar CAD software.
2. Strong engineering and automotive background, with previous experience in BIW Layout.
3. Understanding of reliability and maintainability principles and environmental impacts of engineering solutions.
4. Ability to manage suppliers of materials and equipment.
5. Knowledge of lean manufacturing tools and techniques.
6. Experience in supplier selection and tender management.
7. Working knowledge of electrical control systems for automated and conveyor equipment.
