Senior Physiotherapist - Respiratory Rotation

We are looking for an enthusiastic Physiotherapist to join our friendly Respiratory Therapy Team. Our team comprises of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Apprentices, and Therapy Assistants.
We can give you the opportunity to develop and enhance your respiratory assessment and treatment skills by working alongside our experienced clinicians across the respiratory pathway from acute services to community and out-patients. Rotations include:
* Acute in-patients including Critical Care at Dorset County Hospital
* Pulmonary Rehabilitation Service across various sites in West Dorset
* Respiratory Out-patients
The in-patient team covers the medical, surgical wards, and critical care unit and manages the critical care rehabilitation follow-up clinic. Dorset County Hospital is currently undergoing major building works to improve our Emergency Department and Critical Care Unit services.
Our Pulmonary Rehabilitation Service is the lead provider for Dorset - they work in close collaboration with Dorset Healthcare University Trust and hold regular clinics/classes in Weymouth, Portland, Dorchester, and Bridport. As part of the rotations, you can also have the opportunity to hold a respiratory out-patient caseload.
We promote education and service development and use our connections with Bournemouth University, Thames Valley and Wessex Critical Care Network, Dorset Respiratory Interest Group, and surrounding Trusts to ensure we are delivering the best care and service to our population.
Main duties of the job
The therapist works as an integral member of the Multidisciplinary team.
To undertake all aspects of clinical duties and to carry a significant caseload of patients as an autonomous practitioner, including those with complex presentations.
To work at an enhanced level and be professionally and legally accountable for a specialised respiratory patient caseload, and decide priorities for own work area, without direct supervision.
In conjunction with the Team Lead, the post holder participates in a rolling programme of education, clinical evaluation, audit, and research across the speciality.
To promote and demonstrate safe, timely, and appropriate discharge planning.
To provide leadership and clinical guidance for junior staff, therapy assistants, students, and ward staff.

Person Specification
Education, Qualifications and Training
* Diploma or Degree in Physiotherapy
* Registered as a Physiotherapist with the HCPC
* Undertaken a range of relevant postgraduate courses
* Member of professional group e.g. CSP
* Member of special interest groups e.g. ACPRC
Knowledge and Experience
* Wide-ranging rotational physiotherapy experience at band 5 level including experience in an acute setting
* Knowledge of evidenced-based practice pertaining to Critical Care and Respiratory therapy
* Experience of participating in audit and evidence-based projects.
* Evidence of actively participating in in-service training and MDT groups, and evaluating effectiveness of training
* Experience and ability to work collaboratively within MDT
* Experience of supporting junior colleagues
* Knowledge of national guidelines and standards relevant to Critical Care and Respiratory Physiotherapy
* Understanding of clinical governance and its implication for Physiotherapy
* Self-motivated with a clear vision of the role
* Physically fit and able to comply with Trust's moving and handling guidelines, therapeutic handling
* Available for on-call, weekend duties, and altered working patterns where clinically appropriate
* Previous experience at band 6 level
* Experience in managing limited resources and high workloads
* Experience of supervision and appraisal of therapy staff and students with ability to give constructive feedback
