About the Role:
As a fast growing manufacturing company MSL have a range of diverse and challenging projects to develop and grow the business as well as deliver complex solutions for customers. Examples of projects include:
* Development of a new factory to expand production capacity
* Installation of a new piece of complex factory equipment (furnace) including ensuring that all services are available and adequately specified at point of delivery
* Delivery of a complex shield for the Canadian National laboratory to enable the detection of potential new particles
* Delivery of complex application-specific projects which typically have a significant on-site installation and qualification components in the UK, EU and USA
* Implement of a software solution for updates and management of site based installation team
It is not expected that the applicant will have detailed technical knowledge of projects but will bring a detailed knowledge of project management process, procedures and approaches in order to play a crucial role in the successful delivery of quality projects to time and budget.
The Project Manager plays a crucial role in leading organisational excellence by implementing processes and methodologies to achieve tangible outcomes in all areas of project delivery. Acting as the driving force, co-ordinating with colleagues and taking ownership for successful delivery of complex projects throughout the Company.
The Role:
* Liaise with key stakeholders to drive the successful project planning process in all areas connected to project delivery; responsible for ensuring successful end to end project delivery to the expect quality level and within budget.
* Develop and own master plan for key company projects
* Monitoring progress and planning of projects against key project deliverables, milestones and deadlines
* Day-to-day troubleshooting as necessary to identify/resolve key issues
* Identifying and reducing bottlenecks impacting project delivery
* Meeting key project delivery deadlines and budgets
* Making a tangible difference to agreed targets through identifying and driving changes/planned improvements; deliver significant and sustained impact to agreed growth and efficiency targets by successfully delivering complex projects
* Developing appropriate project management processes and ensuring adherence by implementing agreed communications, training and audit procedures
* Develop positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to champion continuous improvement in project delivery
* Ensure all processes comply with ISO 9001:2015 processes and standards
* The role will involve some travelling within the UK, EU and USA
Essential Skills:
* Relevant engineering educational background, educated to degree standard or time served equivalent
* Holder of relevant project management qualifications or time served equivalent
* Able to project plan effectively and efficiently to a high standard, using this skill to best align projects with the Company’s overall goals and mission
* Acting as a strategic thinker, using critical thinking to make complex decisions about a project plan
* Able to evaluate complex workflows to maximise efficiency
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact with key stakeholders, customers and MSL senior leadership
* Able to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
* Strong decision maker, able to make choices between different alternatives, solution focused
* High standard IT skills, advanced in all MS Office packages (especially Excel and Project packages)
* Ability to operate MRP systems proficiently
* Excellent attention to detail
* Professional approach with a commitment to company values and policies
Desirable Skills:
* Experience of leading projects in a matrix organisation
* 5+ year continuous improvement experience from within transferable background
