About the Role:
To maintain the highest standards in safe, low-carbon installations for their domestic clients, our client continually advances their safety, compliance, and quality assurance practices. They are seeking a strategic-minded Head of/Director of Health and Safety who will set and drive the safety and wellbeing agenda across the organisation.
As HSE Director, you will be responsible for defining, implementing, and evolving the safety and wellbeing strategies, policies, standards, and management systems that align with the company’s forward-looking goals.
Key Responsibilities:
* Strategic Leadership: Shape and direct the safety and wellbeing strategy, policies, standards, and management systems, ensuring alignment with the company's growth and sustainability goals.
* Executive Collaboration: Act as a strategic advisor, recommending health and safety policies, objectives, and KPIs to senior leadership.
* Planning & Reporting: Develop annual health and safety plans, along with regular performance updates, to inform and engage stakeholders.
* Employee Wellbeing & Design: Lead initiatives focused on employee wellbeing, safe workplace design, and efficient working arrangements.
* Empowering Managers: Partner with senior leaders to embed proactive health and safety practices within their teams and departments.
* Training & Development: Oversee health and safety training programs, collaborating with Organisational Development to ensure that skills meet evolving organizational needs.
* Performance Monitoring: Design and implement systems for measuring, analysing, and improving health and safety performance metrics.
* Auditing & Compliance: Lead a robust program of health and safety audits and oversee the completion of follow-up actions to ensure continual improvement.
* Incident Management: Conduct thorough investigations of serious incidents, dangerous occurrences, and work-related health issues, reporting on findings and preventive measures.
* Stakeholder Engagement: Build and sustain positive relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, enhancing health and safety standards and sharing best practices.
* Regulatory Representation: Represent the organisation with regulatory bodies and industry counterparts, networking to benchmark and exchange best practices.
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
* Extensive leadership experience in Health, Safety, and Compliance, including the management of legal challenges, court representations, and severe incident handling.
* NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification preferred; Chartered IOSH membership or equivalent is a strong advantage.
* Comprehensive understanding of UK health and safety laws, regulations, and standards, with the confidence to represent the organisation’s practices in court if necessary.
* Willingness to travel to various sites as required.
