Job summary Barrack Lane Medical Centre has an exciting opportunity for a hardworking, enthusiastic and innovative pharmacy technician to join our team. This role is offered on a full-time basis working 32 hours over four days. Although you will be employed by Barrack Lane and Ivry Street PCN you will be based at Barrack Lane. Main duties of the job Responsible for overseeing and supporting the work of the prescription clerk team. Training & mentoring of prescription clerks. Responsible for looking after prescriptions for 3 local care homes. Medication reconciliation. Ensuring monitoring requirements are met for patients with long term conditions and sending out reminders. Updating and maintaining the end of life drugs chart. Advising clinicians when manufacturers are not supplying certain medications so that patients are not prescribed medication that is out of stock. Researching medication list from non UK national patients to check the English version/equivalent. Dealing with and resolving any prescription queries from staff. Develop an understanding of the workload pressures and ensure advise if the team is unable to meet the practice prescription deadlines. About us Barrack Lane is a busy practice in the town centre of Ipswich, Suffolk. We have a practice population of over 20,000 patients. The practice is based on two sites, the main surgery in the centre of the town, and a branch surgery at Stoke Park. Our clinical team is made up of GP partners, salaried GPs, advanced nurse practitioners, advanced care practitioners, dietician, paramedics, physicians associate, pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and a practice nursing team and HCAs. This team is supported by a strong administrative, coding and care-navigating team. Barrack Lane is part of a PCN (Primary Care Network) with Ivry Street Medical Centre, in Ipswich, and the two practices cover a population of 32,000 patients. The PCN allows the practices to share resources and offer an enhanced service to our patients. and employs care co-ordinators and social prescribers to work with patients, especially our vulnerable patients, to help them to access the best care. Be a registered pharmacy technician with the GPhC; Hold a Diploma Level 3 in pharmacy services, or equivalent; Experience Essential have strong experience in either a community pharmacy or a primary care setting; be confident in analysing and presenting information to health professionals; have experience of implementing and promoting cost-effective strategies; have the ability to interpret complex clinical information and present it in suitable formats, to a variety of people from professional and non-professional backgrounds.
