Senior Quantity Surveyor - Gas

The Role
Reporting directly to the Head of Commercial for Projects, Engineering, and Automation, you will be responsible for delivering best-in-class contract controls and P&L performance across designated multi-disciplinary services. You will be accountable for the commercial and cost management of a project or programme from inception to closeout, ensuring maximum efficiencies and full compliance with all B-UK governance procedures. You will also work closely with the Technical, Project Management, and Project Controls teams.
Key Activities
1. Provide accurate live forecasting based on the project programme and report in accordance with respective SAP accounts.
2. Ensure SAP accurately reflects project and framework contract status regarding actual and forecast revenue, costs, work in progress (WIP), and obligations.
3. Monitor and assess actual costs against the baseline estimate, particularly site costs including direct labour, plant & materials, and management bookings.
4. Implement robust project controls and accurately report progress/work done, estimated costs-to-complete, and factor in contractor responsibilities.
5. Administer NEC3/4 Contracts including early warnings, payment certificates, compensation event notifications, and client communications.
6. Demonstrate experience using electronic contract administration systems (Fastdraft, CEMAR, Conject, Aconex).
7. Maintain proper records for audits and cost assurance.
8. Provide robust estimates and quotations aligned to scope, considering all risks and opportunities.
9. Align with the overall commercial strategy within B-UK to ensure goals, targets, and objectives are met.
10. Report any withheld, disputed, or disallowed costs to the Project Manager and Project Board.
11. Actively participate in Contract Reviews and/or Project Boards.
Experience & Qualifications:
1. Financial & Commercial experience of projects and/or term contracts.
2. Contract administration experience with NEC3/4 suite of contracts.
3. Experience dealing with multidisciplinary operational and project teams.
4. 5+ years’ experience in a contracting or customer commercial role.
5. Commercial Management / Quantity Surveying Degree.
6. Membership of a professional body (e.g., RICS) preferred.
