Job Description
A market-leading Specialist Insurance Company is looking to appoint a Senior Technical Underwriter to support the continued growth and development of their Commercial Underwriting team.
Reporting to the Head of Underwriting, the Senior Technical Underwriter will play a key role in underwriting larger and more complex property and liability risks.
Responsibilities will include:
1. Delivering both new business and renewal growth plans by focusing on larger and more complex Property and Liability risks that fall outside the existing Underwriting model.
2. Working closely with Key Account Managers and the Underwriting team to grow and manage broker relations.
3. Acting as a technical referral point for less experienced colleagues and cascading technical expertise to other parts of the business.
4. Proactively identifying areas of opportunity for product development, making recommendations to the Head of Underwriting, and contributing to improvement of existing schemes.
5. Supporting the Head of Underwriting with governance, insurer relations, training, and other ad hoc tasks.
Key skills/experience required:
1. Extensive Commercial Property or Liability underwriting experience.
2. Previous experience working for or with MGAs would be beneficial.
3. Experience of Delegated Authority and/or Treaty binders.
4. In-depth knowledge of underwriting principles, risk assessment, and regulatory requirements.
5. Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate at all levels.
7. Ability to communicate complex issues in a concise way.
Salary/Benefits Information:
1. Salary up to £60,000 depending on experience.
2. 26 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
