The School and Role
An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a passionate and dedicated English Teacher to join an Outstanding SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) Primary and Secondary School based in South Tyneside. The school is seeking a committed English Teacher to work on a full-time basis, covering a maternity leave from September 2025 for the full academic year.
This is a fantastic role for an English Teacher who thrives in a supportive, inclusive environment. The successful candidate will be part of an established, dedicated team, working with small class sizes to deliver engaging English lessons to students with a variety of SEND, including Autism, medical, physical, social, emotional, and moderate learning difficulties.
Key Responsibilities:
* Deliver high-quality, differentiated English lessons to pupils in Key Stage 3 and 4, ensuring all students' needs are met.
* Create and implement tailored learning plans for students with diverse SEND needs.
* Work closely with teaching assistants and support staff to ensure effective learning and inclusion for all pupils.
* Foster a positive, nurturing, and safe classroom environment that encourages pupil engagement, independence, and confidence.
* Monitor and assess pupils' progress, providing feedback and support as needed.
* Collaborate with colleagues, including SENCo, to ensure the appropriate support is in place for each student.
* Contribute to the development of individual education plans (IEPs) and attend relevant meetings.
* Maintain a high standard of classroom management and uphold the school's ethos and values.
Requirements
The desired English Teacher will have:
* A qualified English teacher (QTS/QTLS) with experience teaching Key Stage 3 and 4.
* Passionate about working with children with SEND and able to adapt teaching methods to meet diverse needs.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
* Empathetic and patient, with a commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
* Experience with children who have Autism, medical, physical, social, emotional, and/or moderate learning difficulties is desirable but not essential.
* A proactive, flexible approach to teaching and a willingness to engage in ongoing professional development.
