An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Options For Care as Head Of Care. The role will support the management team across the organisation ensuring all aspects of direct care are delivered at the highest quality.
A key element is to ensure that evidence based clinical interventions are provided to service users, offering clinical leadership through direct support and role-modelling best practices.
The post holder will work in collaboration with management and clinical teams to set standards, develop and enhance high-quality care provision. The Head of Care will ensure that care supports and reflects individuals' mental health and physical needs, is culturally appropriate, and is continuously evaluated to ensure compliance with professional guidance and current best practice.
Main duties of the job
In collaboration with the Operations Director, Head of Therapies and management teams, the post holder will support staff's continuous clinical and professional development through on-the-job coaching, mentoring and supervision.
You will also be required to lead on key clinical statutory responsibilities.
Ensure any absence of registered managers is adequately covered and provisions are in place to cover units.
The Head of Care will be an integral part of service development and delivery across Options for Care.
Job responsibilities
The post holder will be responsible for the following:
1. Provide sound clinical leadership and support.
2. Ensure that high standards of care delivery are maintained and evaluated in line with local and national guidance.
3. Provision of guidance and role modelling to all clinical staff through active involvement in care.
4. Work closely and collaboratively with service users, their carers, and the multi-disciplinary team to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and review care.
5. Promote therapeutic relationships, respecting the uniqueness of each patient, acting in a non-judgmental manner, and promoting the rights of the individual at all times.
6. Support and deliver specialist best practice individualised interventions to enable recovery and engagement with the service user group.
7. Support and promote professional competence in colleagues.
8. Develop and implement audit tools in line with the current service needs.
9. Participate in the management of the admission and discharge pathway.
10. Ensure compliance with information governance practices and regulations.
11. Participate in projects or research within the service as agreed with the Operations Director.
Person Specification
Experience
* Relevant and significant experience working with similar service user groups.
* Relevant post-qualification experience of working with people with severe and enduring mental illness, ideally in a recovery setting.
* To be experienced in change management.
* Understanding of infection control and safeguarding agendas in Mental Health and associated legislation.
* An understanding of the principles of clinical governance.
* Significant knowledge of clinical risk assessment and management.
* Knowledge of evidence based practice relevant to working with service users with long-term complex care mental health needs.
* Working Knowledge of the Mental Health Act 1983 and changes with Mental Health Act 2007.
* Working knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act 2005.
Qualifications
* First Level Professional Clinical Qualification.
* Currently registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) or Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
* Mentorship and assessing qualification or equivalent.
* Professional and personal development related to rehabilitation and recovery.
* Degree-level education or equivalent experience.
* Professional Development in Clinical Leadership or Management.
* Clinical Supervision/ Coaching experience.
* NVQ Level 5 in Leadership and Management or equivalent.
* Infection control qualification or experience.
