What will I be doing in the role?
* You will support senior officers in providing policy advice and guidance to the Leader of the Council, Cabinet, the Chief Executive and Corporate Management Team, and across the Future Council transformation programme.
* You will support policy development across the range of social, economic and environmental fields and providing research support including population and IMD analysis, undertaking horizon scanning to identify future policy issues and aide partnership development.
* You will play a key role in forecasting, sensing and critically assessing national, regional and local trends, levers and policy shifts to ensure the Council and its partners are able to shape and respond to the fast changing and increasingly complex context they are operating within.
* You will enable the organisation and policy partners to define the challenges for Wakefield and develop tangible, collaborative solutions that will make a real, measurable impact on the biggest issues faced by the district.
Requirements
* Hold a degree/ equivalent qualification or able to demonstrate an equivalent level of knowledge and skill gained through significant experience of operating at a senior level.
* Have an advanced knowledge and understanding of the range of national and strategic policy and delivery issues facing local authorities and their partners at a corporate, strategic and partnership level.
* Have advanced theoretical, practical and procedural knowledge of policy development, advice and dissemination frameworks, tools and techniques.
