Job Title: Senior Structural Engineer
Job Summary:
The Senior Structural Engineer will play a key role in the design and delivery of building structures across various sectors, including domestic, commercial, and institutional projects. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in structural design, team leadership, and project management. This position offers the opportunity to lead projects, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to organizational goals, with a pathway to managerial responsibilities and professional chartership.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and manage a team of engineers and technicians to deliver projects on time and within budget.
* Perform structural analysis and design in materials such as steel, concrete, masonry, and timber.
* Use engineering design software proficiently to create efficient structural designs.
* Oversee multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines and client expectations are met.
* Attend client meetings and site visits as the design lead, representing the company professionally.
* Mentor junior engineers and graduates, fostering professional growth within the team.
* Produce high-quality written reports and perform manual calculations when necessary.
Qualifications and Skills:
* Minimum of a BSc, BEng, or MEng in Civil or Structural Engineering.
* Membership in the Institution of Structural Engineers or an equivalent body, chartered or working towards chartership.
* At least 5 years of post-degree experience in structural design and project leadership.
* Expertise in British Standards and Euro Codes for structural design.
* Proficient in design software such as Tekla, TEDDS, Robot, Scia, CADS RC, and AutoCAD; Revit skills are desirable.
* Strong ability to perform hand calculations and structural analysis from first principles.
* Excellent communication skills for liaising with clients, consultants, and contractors.
* Fluent in both written and spoken English.
Working Hours:
* 40+ hours per week, Monday to Friday.
