Job Title: Parts Delivery Driver
Department: Parts
Reports To: Parts Manager/Warehouse Supervisor (whichever is applicable)
SUMMARY: Delivers and picks up parts and equipment for the dealership.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
1. Picks up and delivers parts and equipment to customers, satellite stores, wholesale accounts, and vendors while driving in a safe manner at all times.
2. Checks with warehouse manager, wholesale representative, inventory control administrator, parts counter people, or warehouse associates before leaving to coordinate any last-minute pick-ups or deliveries.
3. Ability to lift and move parts up to 120 lbs. when required.
4. Verifies that invoice matches purchase order for each pick-up.
5. Checks payments received with the invoices for each delivery.
6. Keeps an accurate log of daily deliveries and pick-ups, requesting recipient's signature on each delivery entry.
7. Unloads truck each night and turns in all paperwork and undelivered parts.
8. Handles basic maintenance of the truck including filling tank with gas, checking oil, keeping it clean, and making sure required inspections are performed.
9. Advises parts manager if delivery trucks need major repairs and maintenance.
10. Helps maintain the professional appearance of the parts department.
11. Assists with shipping/receiving/warehouse responsibilities when not delivering.
12. Operates forklift to load/unload product when required.
13. Helps with stocking and posting orders when they arrive to expedite delivery to shop technicians and wholesale accounts.
14. Maintains professional appearance.
15. Documents lunch breaks on driver logs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Clean driving record is required.
2. Clean criminal record.
3. Basic computer knowledge.
4. Excellent customer service skills.
5. Attention to detail.
6. Excellent communication skills.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma/GED; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
1. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
2. Ability to write simple correspondence and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
3. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
4. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
5. Ability to use and communicate by cell phone and basic computer programs.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
1. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
2. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
3. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
REASONING ABILITY:
1. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
2. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Requires lifting/carrying up to 25 lbs. frequently and up to 130 lbs. occasionally. Must be able to push/pull a force up to 120 lbs. during the normal course of the workday. Requires standing, bending, stretching, stooping, crouching, reaching, and manipulating a computer keyboard; heavy lifting. WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to outdoor weather conditions, cold and heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
