Quality and Assurance Director at STRABAG UK Limited
You will manage the Quality Function within the Project/Contract, providing Quality leadership and support.
Reporting to the Project Management and the Quality & Assurance Director, the main purpose of the role is to:
* Establish and provide Leadership in best practice in Quality matters relevant to the Haweswater Aqueduct Resilience Programme (HARP) and the wider business (where required).
* Mentor and develop project staff to ensure that they understand the Quality Management Systems.
* Ensure that the STRABAG UK Integrated Management System (IMS) and other applicable company standards are fully integrated on the HARP project.
* Ensure Management controls are in place so that all personnel are aware of their statutory duties and responsibilities, and provide advice as and when required.
* Manage and review production of Quality plans, procedures and associated documentation and check compliance.
* Take a lead with site management teams to ensure compliance with all requirements stipulated in the Quality plans.
* Stop work when any Quality elements of the work are in question.
* Manage regular inspections/audits of sites and workplaces to determine whether work is being carried out in accordance with Company Policy, procedures and other stated requirements.
* Promote the accurate reporting of non-conformances and provide advice on closing out actions.
* Take a proactive approach to driving down the cost of rework on site.
* Manage, collate and review business/contract KPIs/statistics in a timely manner and submit to the Quality & Assurance function for reporting purposes, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
* Develop and implement Quality campaigns and improvement plans.
* Manage and where required be involved in the preparation and review of Quality documents including those of 3rd parties.
* Maintain records as necessary to ensure compliance with Company procedures and contract requirements, to be delivered as part of handover arrangements.
* Provide reports, presentations and information as directed by the Business/Quality and Assurance Function.
* Manage the dissemination of information issued by the Quality and Assurance function to relevant employees.
Key Responsibilities
* Support with strategic leadership on all aspects of quality.
* Help shape the STRABAG UK Quality Strategy whilst driving awareness and upskilling delivery and leadership teams.
* Oversee and lead resourcing, recruitment and succession planning of the project Quality team.
* Ensure that project related key performance data is collected, evaluated and improved upon.
* Develop appropriate quality plans, processes, procedures and guidelines for integration in the STRABAG UK IMS.
* Leadership of project specific approaches to quality management and holistic alignment with the STRABAG UK IMS.
* Lead on the implementation of the business Unit assurance programme, objective measurement of performance, initiative development and implementation.
* Support the business in review and continual improvement of approaches to quality management.
* Build and lead a team of quality professionals across the entire length of the project.
* Lead on the compilation and sharing of project related best practice, lessons learnt, case studies, data, etc.
* Lead on the upskilling and cultural development of the project quality team.
* Lead on the development of status reports, identification of improvement areas, management review and continual improvement.
Qualifications/Training
* HNC/HND/Degree qualified or relevant experience in Quality Management.
* Chartered Member of CQI (MCQI CQP) is desirable.
* Full driving licence and willing to travel.
* CSCS Card (relevant type).
* DBS check will be required prior to appointment.
Skills/Experience
* 10 years' in a Quality role in the construction industry on large infrastructure projects or equivalent comparable industry/projects.
* Solid understanding of the requirements of the ISO 9001 standard.
* Understanding of the ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards is desirable.
* Strong demonstrative leadership skills are essential along with managing teams.
* Ability to take direction from line managers and senior members of staff whilst also being able to communicate and influence change.
* Strategic minded with excellent organisation, communication and time management skills.
* Team player with ability to coach and mentor others as required.
* Proficient in standard computer programmes including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
