4 sessions a week
We are currently looking to recruit a salaried GP to join us in working 4 sessions a week. This would be an addition to our existing small team, comprising of 2 GP partners, a Practice Nurse, a HCSW and a supportive reception and administrative staff. An inhouse Physiotherapist, a Mental Health Practitioner, A GP Support Officer/ Social prescriber complete our practice team.
We provide a range of enhanced services including joint injections, gender identity services, substance misuse, DOAC initiation and monitoring
We provide GP training placements and educational supervision and teaching for medical students
We are an active Study & Research practice
Main duties of the job
We encourage applications from experienced GPs or those who have completed their GP training more recently. Practice 3 are a training practice and will be supportive to further develop a newly qualified GP.
Our patient appointment sessions are a mix of pre-bookable and on the day booking to aid patient choice and clinical decision. In addition there are a small number of appointments for administrative queries, which includes medical correspondence, results of tests/investigations and prescription signing; this would be allocated equitably
The requirement to conduct baby medicals would be included in this role.
In caring for patients, you would
1. Practise evidence-based medicine, in line with national and locally agreed guidelines
2. Manage long-term conditions and patients with complex problems
3. Promote healthy living and give health and wellbeing advice to encourage patients to follow a healthy lifestyle
4. Participate in reviewing and responding to complaints, significant events and other shared learning activities within a structured framework.
Home visits are minimum
Salary is negotiable and dependent on previous experience

Practice 3 is situated in a purpose built premises in Merthyr Tydfil. We share the premises with other GP practices, the Academic Centre as a base for students, and many health professionals which lends itself to collaborative working and integrated patient care.
