Communications Officer Location: Hybrid/London EC2R 7AF, with up to 3 days working from home after an initial period of training. Salary: Up to £39,000 a year (depending on relevant knowledge, skills, and experience). Contract: Fixed term contract. 12 months. Full time. 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday. You’ll be helping SAUL members understand their pensions, supporting employers and improving the resources and support we offer them, contributing to our positive company culture through our internal communications and supporting teams and projects across the business. This is a varied role on a small team and an opportunity to get involved in all aspects of communications for our pension Scheme. You’ll help to maintain and improve our communication channels, including presentations and seminars, websites, literature, emails, standard letters, and online accounts for SAUL members. You'll also collect and respond to stakeholder feedback and support the wider business in complying with the SAUL brand. You will be responsible for: • Maintaining and drafting content for online resources including websites for members and employers and further developing them in the future • Drafting letters and communication material as required using plain language ensuring clarity, consistency and conciseness • Drafting regular emails to stakeholders and maintaining the email distribution lists • Supporting the wider Communications team in securing compliance with the corporate Style Guide across the business • Managing and maintaining standard letters • Supporting the wider Communications team in the production of bulk stakeholder communications. • Providing support for the Communications Manager and wider team to ensure that all agreed team goals are achieved • Supporting the company vision, goals and behaviours • Managing the databases containing all contact information across the business, including drafting the procedures governing their operations • Keeping SAUL employer contacts up to date • Supplying communications materials to members, employers and colleagues on request • Maintaining communications templates • Editing and proofreading documents for the wider business to ensure compliance with the corporate Style Guide • Supporting the Senior Communications Manager and Communications Manager in undertaking stakeholder surveys. This includes analysing and collating of feedback and categorising and summarising themes • Liaising with the Plain Language Commission • Drafting and delivering ad hoc mailshots on request for the wider business • Delivering communications aspects of the internal communications strategy in conjunction with the Communications Manager • Producing and analysing management information to support the development of communications activity • Media monitoring • Participating in project teams as agreed with the Senior Communications Manager or Communications Manager • Supporting the Communications Manager in the organisation of stakeholder forums and events • Updating our procedures for SAUL employers (in conjunction with the Administration team) • Proactively contributing to Communications planning, both in the short and longer term, with a clear focus on delivering the Communications Strategy and achieving the objectives of the Corporate Strategy Plan • Identifying communications risks • Supporting the Communications Manager in developing communications strategies and delivering communication campaigns What we need from you: • Education to A level or equivalent including GCSE pass in Maths and English or equivalent qualification or equivalent experience • Excellent spoken and written English and ability to use plain language Good knowledge of communications concepts • Experience in drafting communications aimed at a variety of stakeholders in different media • Ability to clearly explain complex concepts to a range of audiences, both in writing and verbally • Computer literacy • Customer focus • Self-motivation • Strong attention to detail • Ability to work well in a team • Positive attitude to change • Ability to work to deadlines and under pressure • Hands on attitude and a willingness to do a variety of tasks if required • Ability to work alone with minimum supervision • Experience of assessing and responding to non-routine work situations If you feel you have the skills and experience to be successful in this role then apply today
