We are working with an NHS organisation who are seeking to appoint an Interim Financial Controller for a short term assignment. The role will be on an interim basis and will start ASAP for 3-6 months.
Hybrid working is available and the role will be at Band 9 interim agency capped rates.
This is a key appointment for the organisation and experience within the NHS, in a similar role is essential.
Key responsibilities will include:
Responsible for the delivery of the Trust Annual Accounts within the timetable set and present the accounts to the scrutiny of the relevant committee/s;
Responsible for identifying and monitoring financial risks;
Ensure appropriate financial governance structures and processes are in place with robust system of internal financial control;
Ensure the organisation complies with relevant financial and governance legislation;
Support the finance and procurement aspects of ICS development within the health economy;
Ensure all organisational managers have knowledge of and demonstrate compliance with Standing Orders, scheme of delegation and Detailed Financial Policies;
To provide day to day direction and management of the finance function. Work closely with other senior staff within the organisation and wider System to ensure the development and management of plans;
Ensure appropriate financial systems and processes are in place to enable the implementation of the strategic plans in the organisation and the system;
Proactively manage the key financial risks and issues associated with the delivery of strategic and operational plans, ensuring appropriate actions are taken to mitigate or respond. Monitoring and establishing accountability on the overall progress of the financial strategy to ensure completion within the agreed time scales. Manage changes without the destabilisation of business as usual. To manage and actively promote the relationships with the key stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will have/be:
Masters degree or equivalent experience;
CCAB or CIMA membership with a minimum 10 years post qualification experience;
CPD Registration with professional body;
A successful track record at a senior level;
Experience of working with Executive teams and Boards;
Experience of leading and developing staff including qualified staff and senior management staff;
Demonstrate the capability to maintain financial control whilst supporting a devolved style;
Expertise in financial management;
Experience of working under pressure and meeting deadlines;
Evidence of the ability to manage a senior team within a finance function;
Implementing national financial policies and guidance across an organisation;
NHS Finance Issues;
Working knowledge of Annual Accounts processes;
Experience of leading on the relationship with NHS regulators;
Experience of NHS costing methodologies;
Knowledge of NHS contractual and financial framework.
