ROLE OVERVIEW We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented part-time office manager and health & safety manager to support the smooth running of the office and ensure that the lab operates in full compliance with health and safety regulations.
This role is office-based in Headington, Oxford, and can be worked during school hours (9 am to 3 pm), 20-25 hours per week. Extended annual leave is available for the right candidate.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Office Management -Manage general administrative tasks, including ordering office and lab supplies, handling correspondence, and maintaining office equipment. -Provide basic IT support, such as setting up computers and liaising with external IT service providers when necessary. -Assist in managing office budgets and tracking expenses.
Health & Safety Management -Ensure the lab complies with all relevant health and safety regulations, including risk assessments, safety training, and monitoring compliance. -Conduct regular H&S audits and inspections, identifying and mitigating any risks or hazards. -Manage the safe storage and handling of materials and equipment. -Work alongside a health and safety consultant to ensure everything is in place and operating within the required guidelines. -Act as the point of contact for any H&S-related issues or incidents.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE -Prior experience in office management or administration. - Understanding of health and safety regulations, ideally in a lab or life sciences environment. - Excellent organisational and multitasking skills. - Strong attention to detail and ability to follow processes. - Good communication and interpersonal skills. - Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic IT tools
