We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Engineering Capability Lead to join our Engineering Leadership team. Reporting to the Group Digital Technology Director, you will drive governance, risk management, engineering transformation, and productivity improvements across our engineering organisation. Your role will focus on enhancing ways of working, implementing best practices, and leveraging tools and technologies to optimise engineering processes and outcomes.
What will I be doing?
* Engineering Transformation:Lead initiatives to enhance the efficiency, effectiveness, and agility of the engineering organisation. Drive the adoption of modern engineering practices, methodologies, and frameworks such as Agile, DevOps, and Lean. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
* Productivity Improvements:Identify opportunities for productivity enhancements and implement initiatives to improve engineering efficiency and effectiveness. Monitor and analyse key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure productivity and identify areas for improvement. Provide training, resources, and support to engineering teams.
* Tools and Technologies:Evaluate, select, and implement tools and technologies to support engineering processes and improve productivity. Ensure effective integration and utilisation of tools across the organisation. Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in engineering tools and technologies.
* Governance and Risk Management:Establish and enforce governance frameworks, policies, and standards to ensure compliance with industry regulations and internal requirements. Develop and implement risk management strategies. Conduct regular risk assessments and audits.
* Ways of Working:Define and promote best practices for engineering processes, including software development, testing, deployment, and maintenance. Implement standardised processes and workflows. Facilitate cross-functional collaboration and communication.
* Stakeholder Collaboration:Collaborate with senior leadership, product managers, and other stakeholders to align engineering initiatives with business goals. Act as a liaison between engineering teams and other departments. Provide regular updates and reports to senior management.
What do I need?
* Extensive experience in engineering management, with a focus on governance, risk management, and process improvement, and a strong technical background in engineering transformation and modern practices (Agile, DevOps, Lean).
* Proficient in monitoring and analysing KPIs and metrics to drive productivity improvements, and experienced in providing training, resources, and support to enhance team capabilities.
* Extensive experience in evaluating, selecting, and implementing tools and technologies to support engineering processes, ensuring effective integration and utilisation.
* Strong understanding of best practices for engineering processes, including software development, testing, deployment, and maintenance, with the ability to define and promote standardised workflows.
* Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and innovative skills, with the ability to identify, nurture, and scale new opportunities while maintaining a strategic focus on both the big picture and details.
* Adaptable, flexible, and resilient, able to prioritise and manage under tight or conflicting deadlines, and an effective communicator at all levels, capable of collaborating with various stakeholders.
