HR Advisor - Maternity Cover
Our client, a leading construction and structural steel company operating throughout the UK and Europe, is seeking a HR Advisor on a temporary basis to cover maternity leave, based in Barnsley. This position is fully office-based, with occasional travel to other sites, so access to your own vehicle is essential. The salary offered is between £35,000 - £45,000 depending on experience.
What will you be doing?
The HR Advisor will have extensive experience in employee relations. The ideal candidate should possess excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to handle complex employee relations issues, and drive initiatives that improve processes and support the workforce. Responsibilities include:
1. Providing expert advice and support to managers and employees on all employee relations matters.
2. Managing and resolving employee relations issues in line with up-to-date employment law.
3. Assisting in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
4. Supporting investigations and disciplinary hearings, providing advice and guidance where necessary, and taking accurate minutes of meetings.
5. Working with fellow HR team members to develop and deliver training sessions on key HR topics.
6. Monitoring and analyzing employee trends and metrics, providing insights and recommendations.
7. Managing recruitment campaigns, including sourcing candidates and coordinating interviews.
8. Ensuring preparation of new starter paperwork, including drafting employment contracts and onboarding processes.
9. Managing company benefit schemes and supporting key HR projects as required.
What skills will you have?
* Effective communication and relationship-building skills with stakeholders at all levels.
* Ability to manage workloads and prioritize effectively in a busy environment.
* CIPD qualification is ideal but not essential if you have a strong background in employee relations.
* Proactive and self-motivated professional with a strong work ethic.
* Driving license and access to your own vehicle for occasional travel.
* Minimum of 2 years' experience in an equivalent HR role.
* IT literate and proficient in Microsoft Office.
* Ability to handle data confidentiality.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Strong organization and time management skills.
* High accuracy and attention to detail.
* Experience working to tight deadlines.
* Ability to build effective relationships and collaborate as a team member.
* Self-motivated with a flexible approach to work.
* Capability to learn new systems and multitask effectively.
