About the Role: At Kirklees, we strive to be innovative and creative in delivering our services to the community. As a Principal Engineer in Highways Services, you will play a crucial role in managing teams and delivering a variety of highway and transportation projects. Reporting to the Group Engineer overseeing Contract Management, your key responsibilities will include:
* Developing and implementing a Highway Procurement Strategy.
* Planning and developing contract documentation.
* Managing existing contracts and ensuring Value for Money (VfM).
* Overseeing contract performance and compliance.
* Leading and managing a team with minimal supervision.
* Engaging with internal and external stakeholders.
About You: We are looking for a Principal Engineer with the following essential skills and experience:
* Professional technical knowledge in highway and transportation projects.
* Experience in managing the delivery of engineering projects.
* Competence in financial and resource management.
* Ability to implement effective and innovative delivery solutions.
* Project management skills, preferably PRINCE2 based.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
* Leadership skills to motivate and inspire junior staff.
