Five Education are looking to recruit an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant in Central Plymouth. As a Teaching Assistant, you will have the opportunity to work closely with identified children and young people, encouraging them to learn and challenge themselves. The work is based in a primary school where some of the pupils have a diagnosis of Special Education Needs (SEN) such as Autism or ADHD and/ or mental health challenges. There are a number of children who experience Social and Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) needs and need help to become regulated throughout the school day. The role is located in central Plymouth, a car is not essential to get to the school as the area is covered by public transport. The work is 5 days a week, term time only and the hours are 8:30-15:30. You would be working 1:1 with identified children, and at times you will need to work as a general TA helping the class teacher and supporting other children. The successful candidate will have knowledge and experience of working with children, young people or adults who display challenging behaviour. You will need to be compassionate, and resilient. You must be able to establish an excellent rapport with the pupils. The school has excellent facilities and the right person will join a welcoming and committed staff team. You would benefit from training opportunities throughout the year to help you upskill. This role is for people who can demonstrate experience of working with children who have SEND, this is reflected in the rate of pay. Responsibilities and duties: · Supporting 1:1 in class and around the school. · Help the pupils to access the curriculum and tailor the lesson or the activity to their level of ability. · Make learning fun, enjoyable and accessible. · Be a support to the pupils when they are struggling, and help them to calm down and remain focussed. The day is 7 hours with an unpaid lunch break. Your basic daily rate of pay would be £88.00 (Excluding holiday pay). You will be paid holiday pay on top of your basic rate of pay.
