North Cumbria MHSTs Team Manager (Curriculum : Whole school approach)
An opportunity has arisen for a Team Manager to join the North Cumbria Mental Health Support Teams in North Cumbria to line manage the team in the Eden area and focus on developing the MHST 'Whole school approach to Mental Health' offer with schools. If you would like to help lead a service that helps children and young people with their emotional, mental health and wellbeing in education then this role is for you!
We're seeking an experienced children and young people's mental health professional, who has experience of working in schools to work collaboratively with the Children's Service Manager to provide:
* leadership
* line management supervision across the North Cumbria MHSTS in the East locality (Penrith/ Appleby/ Kirby Stephen)
* Lead the development of whole school approach in schools
The post holder will also offer leadership to the wider MHSTs in North Cumbria alongside the Children's Service Manager, other Team Managers and Clinical Leads.
The role will involve working closely with education settings to aid their whole school approach. To lead on the development and coordination of the 'Whole School Approach' offer around Mental health and wellbeing across MHST schools. To lead on developing, delivering, monitoring and evaluation of training packages to school staff, parents and young people. Creating and disseminating resources around Mental Health and Wellbeing.
Mental Health Support Teams (MHSTs) are a national programme jointly delivered with the Department for Education, NHS England and NHS Workforce, Training and Education England. The MHST programme has three core functions:
* Delivering evidence-based interventions for children and young people with mild to moderate mental health needs
* Supporting the senior mental health lead in each education setting to introduce or develop their whole school/college approach
* Giving timely advice to school and college staff, and liaising with external specialist services and partners, to help children and young people to get the right support and stay in education
MHSTs promote wellbeing and good mental health with particular focus on early intervention. They work with existing social, emotional, mental health and wellbeing provision within education settings, building relationships with education, with children, young people, parent-carers and partners in the local system to co-design and evaluate the offer required.
Children's Mental Health and Wellbeing is a key component of Barnardo's Corporate Strategy and Mental Health Support Teams are part of this strategy.
The North Cumbria MHST have a service base in Workington, Cockermouth and Carlisle.
