We are looking for a passionate, skilled and nurturing ASD Class Teacher to join a specialist provision. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of pupils with autism by helping them access learning, build independence and thrive both academically and socially. Beginning September 2025.
Duties as an ASD Class Teacher:
* Teach a small class of pupils with a primary diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder.
* Deliver a highly personalised curriculum tailored to individual EHCP outcomes.
* Create a calm, structured and communication-rich learning environment.
* Use a range of evidence-based approaches, including TEACCH, PECS, visual supports, and sensory regulation strategies.
* Work closely with support staff, therapists, the SENCO, and parents/carers to ensure consistent, child-centred support.
* Monitor progress, track achievements and contribute to regular reviews and planning meetings.
* Promote social interaction, emotional regulation and communication skills.
* Support transitions and life skills, ensuring every pupil is prepared for their next stage.
Ideal ASD Class Teacher:
* Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
* Has experience teaching children with ASD, in a special or mainstream setting.
* Demonstrates a strong understanding of autism and inclusive practice.
* Is calm, flexible, patient, and child-centred in their approach.
* Uses creative strategies to engage and motivate learners.
* Values teamwork and works collaboratively with support staff and families.
* Has excellent organisational, communication and behaviour management skills as an ASD Teacher.
* (Desirable) Has training or experience in PECS, Makaton, sensory integration, or SCERTS.
