The University of Central Lancashire is seeking to recruit a Young Scientist Centre Manager to provide operational management of the centre and lead interactive STEM workshops for Key Stage 2-5 school groups.
The Young Scientist Centre (YSC) is a partnership between the University and the Royal Institution and has a well-established reputation for delivering high-quality STEM workshops in a purpose-built laboratory at our Preston campus.
The post holder will be responsible for leading the delivery of the current suite of workshops and activities, alongside contributing to the development of the centre and maintaining an inspirational science programme of hands-on experiments and activities for young people across all science subjects.
The post sits within the Widening Participation and Public Engagement team and will involve liaising with schools/colleges and community groups to deliver a full programme of events offered by the YSC.
The successful post holder will hold a degree in a STEM discipline. This post would be suitable for a person with experience of teaching Science in a Secondary School setting. You will be confident in explaining concepts across all STEM disciplines to a diverse audience of young people and have excellent presentation and classroom management skills.
