Job Introduction We have a great opportunity for two Principal Auditors to join our valued Internal Audit, Risk and Counter Fraud Team and help city council colleagues maximise efficiencies and continuously improve. The team undertakes audits and other assignments to inform an evidence-based opinion over the city council’s governance, risk and control framework. The scope includes all city council operations, resources, services, and responsibilities. The team also undertakes fraud, whistleblowing and disciplinary investigations, and supports risk management processes. As a Principal Auditor you will be responsible for the planning and delivery of internal audit assignments which includes complex and highly sensitive audit assignments and consultancy work, while maintaining audit independence as well as undertaking grant verifications and investigations. Interview for this role will be held on 13 and 14 February. Role Responsibilities Prepare and deliver Internal Audits as directed by the Audit and Risk Manager. Responsible for the delivery of complex and highly sensitive audit assignments and consultancy work, while maintaining Audit independence. Ensure that all work completed is performed in accordance with the MKCC Audit Manual and meet the requirements of Public Sector Internal Audit Standards. Develop effective working relationships with all parties associated with the delivery of the MKCC Internal Audit Plan, including Unit Managers, Heads of Departments/Assistant Directors; Directors and other Auditors. Prepare professional quality reports, often within tight timescales, drawing together information from multiple sources and identifying key issues. Ideal Candidate Professionally qualified CCAB Accountant or Chartered Internal Auditor. Demonstrable practical knowledge and understanding of internal audit dealing with a variety of services, including non-financial systems. Appreciation of risks, controls and materiality within financial and non-financial systems. Demonstrable high level of written skills and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with all levels within organisations, potentially to include senior management. Proven ability in decision making and analysing information, adopting a solution-based approach. Proven ability to plan activities/projects effectively well in advance, taking account of changing circumstances.
