Macmillan Lead Nurse for Specialist Palliative Care
Barts Health requires a Deputy Lead Cancer Nurse to work as part of the Group Nursing Team across all four hospitals in the BH Group of hospitals. This role supports the Director of Cancer and Palliative Care Nursing while leading on the specialist palliative care nursing agenda. The role will lead the palliative care service and ensure parity and ongoing development.
Each of the four hospitals in the Group has a specialist palliative care team and Whipps Cross Hospital also has the Margaret Centre for inpatient palliative care. There are close links with the Education Academy and City University.

Main Duties of the Job
The successful candidate will have a successful track record in leadership and in the specialist area. They will be able to work at a strategic level to influence and support palliative and end of life care while ensuring that practice remains current and leading any changes. There will also be a focus on wider education and audit.
The role will be based at the Royal London Hospital but the post holder will be expected to have a presence in all the hospitals. Therefore, an ability to time manage and work to deadlines is essential and to collaborate with a wide range of staff from all disciplines.

Experience
* Minimum of 5 years operational management experience in acute trust or hospice at band 7 or above.
* Experience in cancer/palliative care within an acute Trust for 4 years or more.
* Informal and formal teaching experience.
* Quality Improvement experience.
Knowledge
* Understanding of current SPC/end of Life agenda.
* Knowledge of CNS role and developments.
* Clinical governance and application in specialist area.
* Application of clinical audit.
* Understanding of Inclusion agenda.
* Budget management.
Qualifications
* Registered nurse on NMC register.
* Educated to Masters level in cancer or specialist palliative care or equivalent.
