Job Description
Do you have good project management and organisational skills, and an ability to engage well with people?
Do you enjoy working with colleagues across different teams and have a commitment to protecting and improving the water environment?
Come and join our team: it’s an exciting time to be involved in planning England’s water resources. Recent droughts have highlighted that water resources are under pressure, and with population growth and climate change affecting water resources, that pressure will increase.
Your role will be to help deliver the Government’s support package for farmers and growers. This includes project managing schemes for identifying and assessing Local Resource Options for agriculture, where farmers can apply for funding to investigate options to improve water supply security. Additionally, you will manage agricultural water resources planning projects.
The role involves working closely with internal and external stakeholders, including contractors, Defra, Regional Water Resources Groups, Water for Food Group, Water Abstractor Groups, and other agricultural sector representatives.
You will join a national team delivering these projects and will be at the forefront of developing water resources planning approaches for agriculture.
Our team is dispersed, working across the country with a range of people. We use smart tools to stay connected and reduce travel, though some travel and overnight stays may be required.
We promote a positive, inclusive, and supportive culture where everyone feels valued. You’ll have an inclusive incident management objective in your development plan, with support and training provided.
The Team
You’ll join our Water Resources Resilience Team, which develops the National Framework for Water Resources and helps improve water supply resilience for abstractors.
We are part of the Environment and Business (E&B) Directorate, supporting the Environment Agency with evidence, expertise, and innovation to deliver environmental outcomes, influence policy, and secure resources.
