Be part of our future landscape
At Airedale, we are committed to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion. We actively encourage applications irrespective of people’s age, lived experience of living with a disability or long-term conditions, gender, race or ethnicity, religion or belief, sexual orientation, or other personal circumstances.
We appreciate all people may have diverse and individual needs and we pride ourselves on supporting all people to thrive and flourish at work. We have frameworks in place that support reasonable adjustments and flexible working for colleagues throughout their working lives which starts at recruitment.
Job Overview
We are looking for individuals with or without experience of working in healthcare, to join the NHS family helping people from your local community. Healthcare Support Worker (HCSW) opportunities are available at Airedale Hospital in our Children's outpatient department.
No experience? No problem. We will teach you everything you need to know.
To us, it is more important that you are a caring and kind person with a genuine desire to help and support children and their families who attend our outpatient department. Working as a Healthcare Support Worker in a hospital means you will need to be flexible and able to work various shifts which cover the service needs (Monday to Friday).
If this sounds like you, then you already have the skills that make a great Health Care Support Worker.
Right from the time you join us, you will have access to learning, development, and training opportunities. As you progress in your NHS career you will acquire the knowledge, skills, and confidence you need to provide safe and compassionate patient care.
Main Duties of the Job
As a Health Care Support Worker, you will be a hugely valuable support to our Nursing and Midwifery teams providing care to our patients. Every day will be different, and you will work alongside the rest of the team carrying out a wide range of tasks to support efficient and safe clinics.
Examples of what you may do as part of your role:
* Helping patients to move around
* Talking to patients and their families
* Monitoring patient conditions
* Supporting with procedures such as blood tests
* Greeting and booking patients into clinics
* Supporting with developmental assessments
You will need to be flexible to allow you to cover clinics Monday to Friday. Some clinics are held offsite so you must be able to drive.
This opportunity is only available for candidates who have the right to work in the UK as we are currently unable to provide sponsorship for this role.
Support
We offer an initial two-week induction and training programme for HCSWs. This includes learning about the Hospital and all the core skills you will need such as preventing infection and how to provide direct care. You will have some learning with registered nurses and other days specifically for HCSWs. For anyone new to care, we then offer two weeks support working alongside an experienced HCSW in clinical practice, learning the role before being included in the staffing numbers. We will support you to achieve a Care Certificate during your first few months if you do not already have one.
Working for Our Organisation
We are always looking for enterprising and innovative approaches to the way we provide our services. We are a national centre for telemedicine and introduced telehealth to the UK offender healthcare sector and also provide the service to patients in their care homes. Community matters to us and we are supported by 400 dedicated volunteers and have strong links with Bradford University, Craven College, and Leeds City College to ensure we inspire the workforce of the future.
We want to attract staff who embrace our 'Right Care' behaviours of compassion, a commitment to quality of care, and working together for patients - we want to make these part of our DNA.
