Exterior Lighting Engineer

Exterior Lighting Engineer required to join a luxury and performance automotive manufacturer based in Crewe on a contracting basis.
Our client is a British icon with a heritage spanning over 100 years, renowned for designing and handcrafting some of the world's most exquisite vehicles using the craftmanship of exceptional people and the finest of materials.
As the Exterior Lighting Engineer, you will be responsible for ‘cradle to grave’ design and development of exterior lighting. Liaising with the design teams, suppliers and product development to work though to integration ensuring aspirations are met.
Exterior Lighting Engineer Key Duties:
* Responsible for developing and maintaining specialist technical and business knowledge within the lighting field,
* Responsible for defining and planning work for approval by Functional Manager,
* Responsible for the engineering and delivery of certain exterior lamps on new and current vehicle production lines. The objective is to meet the Style requirements with a legal, cost effective and timely solution that meets the exacting group quality requirements,
* Responsible for carrying out feasibility and concept study activities within the team. This will require working with Styling, Concept Engineering, and Product Planning Department interface, and with external partnerships,
* Accountable for defining a detailed development work package that can be handed over to the delivery engineers to take to SOP,
* Accountable for supporting the Functional Manager in the formulation of TCD/PDB responses for Product Planning,
* Accountable for timely parts and integration release for prototype build and production, and for timely delivery of all Product Engineering activities required achieving timely vehicle launch to quality and cost.
Exterior Lighting Engineer skills required:
* Degree in Automotive, mechanical or electrical engineering,
* Design and development experience of Automotive exterior lighting in an OEM, or in a tier 1 supplier is advantageous.
* CATIA V5 experience is essential,
* Ability to work independently with autonomy,
* Flexibility to travel across the UK and Europe if required to support development activities.
* Full driving license is essential.
