Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland
If you have NVQ Level 2, experience of working in a health or social care environment, and excellent communication skills, this may be the position for you. You will work autonomously, predominantly in the patient's home, but you will also be an integral member of the wider, multi-disciplinary team.
The post is for 22.5 hours per week that may be worked flexibly over a rota period.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide direct personal nursing care, primarily in the patient's home and on occasions in other settings such as Community Hospitals, Residential and Nursing homes, and Eden Valley Hospice.
The post holder will provide practical nursing care, emotional, social, and psychological support to individuals with palliative care needs, their families, and carers. This role involves regular and extended involvement with the stress of caring for dying patients and their families.

Job responsibilities

Person Specification
Knowledge and skills
* Knowledge of palliative care issues
* An understanding of multi-disciplinary working and working with other organisations e.g. District Nurse Teams.
* Enhanced communication skills to work with patients, families, and health/social care professionals.
* Ability to work in a complex environment, often in isolation, and demonstrate effective coping mechanisms.
* Quality-focused with an innovative approach to solving complex problems.
* Diplomacy
* Sensitive to the needs of those affected by life-limiting illness.
* Flexibility to work various shift patterns over a 24-hour period, 7 days a week.
* Ability to respond to changing work shifts.
* Must be able to travel autonomously across the geographical area covered by the service.
* IT Skills - knowledge of patient information systems e.g. EMIS
Qualifications
* NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent Health & Social Care
* (Consideration for Trainee development post for those without NVQ)
* Care Certificate (or willingness to work towards)
Experience
* Significant health or social care experience
* Experience in Palliative Care
* Community experience
* Experience of working in isolation
