Clinical Research Associate (NIHR Internship)
We have a fantastic opportunity for a health care worker to develop their research skills, knowledge and give them experience of applied dementia research. This internship is ideal for a healthcare worker with experience of working with people living with dementia and their families to our research team.
You will support a range of research projects relating to the Living Well with Dementia programme ( www.livdem.co.uk ). This will include the adaptation of original LivDem group intervention for couples and families, as well as a range of other LivDem research projects. Research activities you may be involved in include collecting and analysing qualitative and quantitative data, reviewing literature, working closely with our public contributors and other stakeholders and writing for publication. There may also be opportunities to develop your own research idea in relation to adjustment to dementia. We can support the development of your research career going forwards through attendance at research events and links with research networks.
The post is an ideal opportunity for a committed and enthusiastic clinician to develop their research experience. You will be joining a small team of dementia researchers who have been developing the LivDem model.
This opportunity is funded by the National Institute of Health and Care Research (NIHR) for early career researchers to pursue dementia research as part of its Applied Research Collaboration (ARC) programme. You’ll have support from ARC West and will have ties with research fellows and another intern based at the University of Bristol.
About You
You will have experience of working with people living with dementia and their families in a clinical setting. You have an understanding of some of the challenges families face before and after a dementia diagnosis. You will have an interest in clinical research and a desire to develop your skills and knowledge. You will have good verbal and written communication skills and will communicate well with families affected by dementia as well as professionals. You will have experience working as part of team as well as working autonomously when needed. You should be comfortable working both in-person and through online meetings.

This is a fixed-term post from 1st April 2025 to 17th August 2025 and is part-time working on a 0.6 FTE contract.
