Why this role matters The Network Services team are critical the day to day operation of both employees and customers throughout BT/Openreach. From authentication of devices and systems through to DNS and IP Address management within the business. Through attention to detail, best practices and clear outcomes we are able to provide excellent service to all of our customer both internal and external. Also being able to deliver and mange in life complex systems and integrations to allow the business to operate. This person is to help us lead a team of talented system professionals, grow new additions to the team for the future and grow their own skills along the way. The team is diverse and adaptive varying from beginners to experienced, cross-skilling in technology all the time. The activities covered are broad, exploiting a range of software languages and system environments such as Cisco ISE, Active Identify, .NET Framework and PowerDNS to name but a few, truly embracing the hybrid skills of the future Although a good degree of automation exists there is much more that can be achieved. What you'll be doing - Leading a dynamic team of around 8 people including full time staff and rotating "new" joiners to BT. - Collaborating with the wider teams in Internal Networks to ensure buddy system in place to support your new joiners on their development journey. - Nurturing and championing software best practice & methods within the team using your software skills and qualifications, encouraging exploration and initiative. - Influencing on aspects of design and development activities for all Network Services solutions across multiple platforms. - Leading on software development and data engineering activities to keep your skills fresh, ensuring we are putting data at the heart of everything we do. - Supporting the teams ambition to grow our DevOps culture throughout.
