SUMMARY
The Outside Part Salesperson should be thoroughly familiar with parts identification, nomenclature, parts reference material, price tapes and pricing information, credit policies, core policies, warranty policies, supplier offerings, marketing tools and materials, and all promotional programs sponsored by the various brands that the dealership offers. They should also be well versed on all of the offerings available to the customer or end user from the dealership, including but not limited to: Service and Labor Sales, New Truck Sales and Leasing, and be qualified to speak about such to customers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
* Visit assigned customers.
* Prospect for new customers.
* Communicate parts orders to inside salespeople or handle the order onsite while in the field through use of a mobile device or laptop.
* Review any special deal orders with the parts manager and obtain his/her approval.
* Obtain parts manager's approval for any special pricing.
* Advise inside salespeople on delivery instructions.
* Follow up on parts orders to ensure that customers have been served properly.
* Coordinate service sales with service salespeople.
* Turn in completed call reports, time sheets, and expense reports.
* Update customer records to reflect changes to customers' names, addresses, etc.
* Add new customers to appropriate mailing lists.
* Attend training seminars when required.
* Act as a public relations liaison for the dealership.
* Maintain a professional appearance.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
* High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. MS Office (Word and Excel) skills are highly recommended.
* Ability to be trained on business software products which are an essential tool in this position.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
* Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
* Ability to write simple correspondence.
* Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
* Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
* Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

* Lifting, pushing, pulling, carrying parts up to 80 lbs.
* Climbing on and off forklift using three points of contact.
* Climbing up and down ladders to reach parts on high shelving.
* Stooping to get parts on low shelving.
