Working Age Mental Health Social Worker
SO2 (£36,124 - £40,476)
37 Hours, Full Time
Permanent
Hybrid - Home based and Baker Street office (expected to be office based 75% of the week)
Your Role
This role will include completing Care Act assessments, support planning, and risk assessments. You will ensure legal compliance and possess knowledge of legislation relating to mental health and adult social care. You will work autonomously with a high standard of recording and strengths-based working. You will be working under the Care Act 2014 and will also complete mental capacity assessments when needed and social circumstance reports. You will be part of a duty rota, dealing with reviews and urgent tasks for cases awaiting allocation.
You will join a well-established team, working closely with the community mental health team and other health colleagues. Teamwork and autonomy are essential, along with experience in mental health and knowledge of the Mental Health Act. You will undertake safeguarding enquiries and work in a strengths-based way, following the values of Stockport and keeping the people of Stockport at the heart of what we do. Regular supervision will be provided to manage an appropriate caseload, including cases with a high level of risk.
You will undertake regular training provided by adult social care and participate in development reviews. A hybrid working model is expected, with at least 75% of the working week in the office, especially during the induction period.
The post holder should have completed the ASYE programme successfully and have experience working with individuals with severe and enduring mental health needs and those eligible for S117 aftercare.
About You
We are looking for a motivated social worker dedicated to providing care to the people of Stockport while maintaining independence for service users through community resources. You should be a qualified and experienced social worker with a passion for mental health social work. Experience in completing complex mental capacity assessments, knowledge of the court of protection, and legal court report writing is essential. Knowledge of direct payments and social work theory and law related to adults with severe and enduring mental health is beneficial.
