A day in the life of a Murphy, Tax Specialist
- Management of Country-by-country reporting and Pillar 2 compliance process
- Management of iXBRL accounts tagging
- VAT return preparation for all UK VAT groups.
- Preparation of Tax disclosures for year end work and dealing with Audit queries
- Corporation tax return preparation and filing
- Review of PSA process with a view to making savings and reducing PSA cost.
- HMRC liaison: Act as the primary point of contact for HMRC queries, audits, and correspondence, ensuring all matters are resolved efficiently.
- Internal Reporting: Collaborate with finance teams to provide accurate tax data for financial forecasting, budgeting, and reporting purposes.
- Responsibility for maintenance and updates of the Tax Risk Register and associated controls
- Management of Senior Accounting Office process
- Maintenance of Tax Strategy and Corporate Criminal Offence documentation.
- Management of Research & Development tax credit claims process

- Experience of VAT return and PSA process
- Experience of various software applications, such as spreadsheets, relational databases, statistical packages, and graphics packages to assemble, manipulate and/or format data and/or reports.
- Able to demonstrate an understanding of a commercial business and have worked within a complex business
- Possess strong tax skills, together with a strong accounting/ control background.
- Demonstrable experience of working with a wide array of other functions at different levels – commercial, operations, marketing, work winning etc.
- Strong communication and influencing skills – able to network effectively with finance and operational management across the business in a variety of cultures.
