The Role
This role will require an understanding of the operational railway and the processes used to manage the train service in real time. This will include monitoring and recovery of services, information provision and management of the key contractual and performance interfaces with Network Rail.
The successful colleague will manage and deliver a safe, punctual, and reliable train service by making quick and effective decisions. You will be required to communicate effectively across all levels of the business, as well as with external parties and build and maintain productive relationships with Network Rail and other key stakeholders. Recording accurate incidents, train service management information, and the ability to perform well under pressure will be central to this role.
We currently operate a 3 shift system of early, late and night turns based on a 37 hour week. Sundays are outside of the working week but there is a commitment to work Sundays for which remuneration will be paid.

Due to the number of the different IT systems you will be working with, you must be IT-literate, and be comfortable with learning new systems.
This role requires a colleague who is well organised and able to prioritize workload. You will be able to demonstrate exceptional levels of customer service and should have the ability to write and communicate effectively.
Understanding the requirements of our customer’s needs during disruption is essential.
