Who we are working with
We have been asked to assist in attracting and recruiting a General Manager (Area Manager) for a client with a great reputation within the Traffic Management/Event Coordination/Highways Maintenance space.
For over 40 years, our client has been providing market-leading traffic management and event traffic management services, growing into one of the largest companies in the industry, while maintaining their family-run feel which separates their 100+ employees from those at other TM firms, as they offer a caring touch, communicating with local authorities and main contractors.
They operate out of 10 UK Depots/Offices nationally and have worked hard to secure contracts with the likes of Balfour Beatty/MGroup/Amey.
The Day-to-Day
As a leading member of the management team, you'll be tasked with overseeing a portfolio of contracts across your given region, ensuring that operations run to optimal standards. You will be tasked with driving high standards across the region, upholding the reputation of the company and ensuring that they are seen as the TM firm of choice for their clients and local authorities.
The specifics:
1. Scrutinise project performance (safety, programme and commercial) and implement continual improvement plans.
2. Working closely with the Commercial Team to ensure all operations are valued and billed in a timely fashion to maximise profit and cash, and ensure any change is effectively managed and recorded.
3. Engage with clients (potential and current) to develop temporary traffic management solutions to their complex and major projects.
To be successful in applying you'll need to demonstrate that you have:
1. Proven track record of delivering temporary traffic management across complex contracts and frameworks on both high and low-speed networks.
2. Extensive knowledge of legislation, standards, guidance and best practice in the temporary traffic management sector, including for National Highways.
3. Understanding and experience of common highway construction and associated assets in a major projects setting.
What you can expect in return
Upon joining the company, you will be guided through company policies and mission statements by the Ownership and Senior Management team. They are truly supportive in their approach to helping new hires bed in whether that be at junior operative level all the way up to Director and senior management.
While you will be required to travel to site regularly, you will be afforded plenty of autonomy once you have learned systems. Our client also offers a healthy salary which can compete with anyone else in Highways/TM maintenance.
As well as basic salary, you can expect to earn travel + car allowance + healthy pension contribution + plenty of other perks.
If you feel that you have the right skills for this position, and would be keen to find out more please take the time to apply now.
